Do you think that it is appealing to buyers when a seller offers a credit, or does it make the house seem less desirable?

We had some trouble with our water this week, and although I don't think it is anything major, if it turns out to be, would it be a plus or a minus to offer a buyer a credit to pay for connecting to city water?

How about offering a lower price?
Or better yet paying closing and other costs?

The price is already very low, and if someone wants to pay less, of course they can make an offer. I'm just wondering what effect it has when a credit is mentioned in a listing.

In my opinion it is a turnoff. Have your agent mention it when she talks to the other agents.

There are people who can come up with the down payment but could then be cash strapped for closing costs. I think what helps is if you let it be known you will "help on the closing costs" then they might actually pay a bit more for the house knowing they do not have to come up with closing costs.

I say let it be know that seller will "aid on closing costs" .
