The other day I saw a shower with a toilet installed inside of it in an unfinished basement. Yes, you could do both at once. I don't care what the fractions add up to it's just a gross idea.

When I bought my current residence what is now the master suite was big open room with stairs and a loft with a toilet in one corner in the downstairs part that was out in the open. So, was that a very large 1/4 bath then?

I always learned it by the number of pieces 1-4.

1 Piece (a sink) was called 1/4 bath. I'm heard some call it a vanity.
2 Pieces (sink and toilet) was called 1/2 bath.
3 Pieces (sink, toilet, shower) was called a 3/4 bath.
4 Pieces (usually sink, toilet, shower but sometimes sink, toilet, tub) was called full.

I know some would make a distinction between a full bath that had a separate tub and shower and a full bath that had a shower/tub combo, giving them different names, but I don't remember what.

Can't imagine doing it in a real house... but I have this in my RV.
It works very well and saves a TON of space.

The whole floor is one big shower pan

Maybe it's like on cruise ships, where the whole (tiny) bathroom turns into a shower?

That would be 1 5/8 bathroom.
