Hello,

What are some sites where I can find what dollar amount homes sold for in my area? I tried Trulia and I clicked on the link but it didn't work. Are there others?

Thanks!

I'm in Chicagoland, and on the Tribune's website, Chicago news, sports, photos, video, blogs, Chicago weather, business, travel, tourism, entertainment and jobs -- chicagotribune.com -- chicagotribune.com you can click on the real estate link, and then the recent home sales link to get this information. I think this only allowes you to search Chicagoland, however. Maybe your local newspaper will have something similar for your area?

Be careful you might be looking at amounts that were financed and not necessarily the selling price of the home. Our county recorders office list information that way.

In a lot of places, the county GIS will link to tax records and show the date the home sold and the sales price.

Zillow and similar estimate sites are way off here, maybe closer in areas where homes are more standardized.
