I have lived in my current home for 10 years. It's currently on the market for sale. We will be moving. If I can't sell it this summer, I am thinking about renting it out short term and get it on the market for sale next Spring. Will I still enjoy the tax benefit for the capital gain?

You just have to have lived in the house 2 of the last 5 years to benefit. Basically, you could wait almost 3 years to sell.
