A DTD uses a terse formal syntax that declares precisely which elements and references may appear where in the document of the particular type, and what the elements’ contents and attributes are. A DTD can also declare entities which may be used in the instance document.
XML uses a subset of SGML DTD.

Wouldn't dtd, in this instance, mean "dated" since it followed by a date?

That was my guess. Maybe right or wrong.

If true then the phrase "u/a dated 2-2-95"

I cut and pasted directly from Wikipedia. I wasn't certain what the terms meant until I looked them up myself.
