Single. 1620sqf. 3 beds 2 bath. 2 car garage. .25 acre. Just the right size for me. Not too much yard to manage and the house is not to big to keep clean.
Good to hear.
I think more and more I read this, the more I recognize that perceptions and feelings are all individual and depend on location, your own hobbies/circumstances, etc. This argument could be translated to actual land (not the house). Some people find anything more than 0.5 acre to be huge while others need 2-5 acres of land to feel comfortable.
For my situation, it is more about the house space and feeling comfortable in the house for entertaining family/friends, overnight visits (few days to a couple weeks at a time) and having different rooms for work and play. The bedrooms are larger, which is nice IMO because they will look far less cluttered.
My grandma lived in a really neat tiny house. It couldn't have been more than 500 square feet. I think it was built as servant's quarters in the 1910s. On one side of the house, from front to back, there was the front porch, living room, dining room, and then bedroom. On the other side, from front to back, there was the bathroom and kitchen. The only drawback was that, because it was for servants, it was very close to the large house next door, so there was no privacy to enjoy the front porch.
My first house was a 900 s.f. 3/1 with a dining room. I had my office in the dining room, overlooking the backyard and park, and still had 2 spare bedrooms that were almost never used.
My first place was a condo, a little over 1000 sq ft. I got a 2 bed, 2 bath, knowing that I could more easily get a roommate if I decided I wanted one, although I never did.
Although I remained single, I had a child and the second place I got when he was a toddler was about 1500 sq ft. 2 bed, 2 bath plus a bonus room that theoretically could have been a third bedroom. It was generally enough space but there were issues with the layout and I wanted a different location so we moved to the third house I've owned, which is 1800 sq ft, 3 bed, 2.5 bath plus a small loft that could be a 4th bedroom. It also has an unfinished basement.
It's perfect for my son and me, but I think it would be too much room for a single person, and I anticipate I will downsize at some point when my son is grown and out on his own. I'm trying to be careful about not accumulating a lot more stuff just because I have a bigger house, so that it will be easier to downsize when the time comes. I will still have a couple of rooms worth of furniture that won't have a counterpart in a smaller home but I'm making sure to not fill up the basement with crap with will all have to get thrown out eventually.
I am in a condo a little less than 1,000 sq-ft. Some might say it's a lot for a single person, but I like the space and I can comfortably afford it. It's a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath. I converted the second bedroom to a theater room,
about 800 sq ft is plenty for me. Easy to clean and i like to feel cozy. Now the garage i would want is a different story for all my tools and space to tinker.

When I bought my first house I was single. It was 1100 SF, 3 bedrooms, one bath. My sister lived with me. It wasn't horrible.
