I am going through purchasing a condo in california bay area, however I purchased my own home insurance to meet the lender's requierment. Since it is condo it i HO6.
How on the closing cost, I see I have to pay another component called hazard insurance which is separate than what I am paying for HO6. is it same thing? I googled and fnding conflicting answers:

wikipedia says it is same:
Home insurance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

investopedia says hazar insurance is different and covers damages not covered by Home owners insurance.

The lender should sort it out, did you tell the lender and escrow that you have HO6 insurance and did you give them the information. Does the HO6 show on the closing statement? In a Condo, there is an HOA which CAN cover the structure on the building in their master policy and you use a HO6 for your walls and interior. If there isn't a HOA coving the structure then you have to cover it. Where is your insurance agent in this process, is it a free standing townhome or shared wall condo.

The lender wants to make sure that there is coverage if the building burns down, your HO6 doesn't always cover that.
