How long does it take to learn how to title search properties for ownership? I imagine that the best way to learn be getting a job with a title company. But is there another way to learn, given the difficulty in getting hired by a title company?
Are you looking for a job? Or are you just interested in how to do searches on your own?
In any case, the best way to learn is to simply go down to the recorders office and learn by doing. The staff at the office can likely give you some pointers as to how to start. What I always found most interesting was delving into the historical records with the old hand-written books and ledgers--the records not even on microfiche.
I should caution, however, that if you're looking to do a title search to verify whether you should buy a particular property, you should simply pay a title company to do the search as part of issuing a title insurance policy. As a newbie (and even if you're experienced), you don't want to miss something in the chain of title which could compromise your ownership of a property.

Depending on how much you want to know, any college that has Paralegal programs have specific classes that include doing a title search. That is how I learned, we went to the Registry of deeds in my county and did a few searches.
