I've seen this attitude before too, and I don't get it.

As a seller, do you really care whether your deal is:

a) $300,000 sale with $5,000 closing credit to buyer, or $295,000 net

b) $295,000 sale with $0 closing credit, or $295,000 net

Either way, you as seller leave the table with exactly the same cash. So why the big deal? Especially since the two deals are *not* equal to a buyer, they may well find the 300 + credit more attractive than 295 with zero, and walk if you insist on the 295 flat, even though doing so doesn't put a single extra dime in your pocket.

If what you mean is buyers agree to a $300,000 price, and then request a closing credit only *after* shaking hands on that sales price, then sure, that's different. But as a buyer, any closing credit request we've made has been part of the initial offer.
