There was a thread here recently where a poster's listing was posted without their permission, which made them very upset; just wouldn't want to see the same thing happen again

Outing. They open the door by starting the conversation. There in no privacy online.

I'll disagree with you on that; the conversation started was a very general one and OP has never once volunteered information as to where they live or asked for feedback on their listing. Unless they specifically gave permission, there's no need to bring their actual listing into the thread and expose their address; if someone wants to post it, DM the poster first to verify if it's ok.

Also, on a side note, Europe disagrees with your assertion that there's no online privacy:

One house we looked at had a cat, and when we tried to open the door to go to the backyard, the cat tried to get out. So we just skipped looking at the backyard...if owners only knew the nuisance they were causing realtors and buyers who have to deal with their cats.

Another house: there were written instructions about the "cat" - it was an "african" cat, so an exotic and not a domestic. The instructions were to not make eye contact, not to speak to the cat, and above all, not to touch the cat. That darned cat stalked us all through the house - we were very uncomfortable, and cut it short...again, I don't understand people who leave their cats in their homes during showings, a burden and distraction for agents and their buyers.

I've told this before, but it's been a while. Appraiser sent to lady's condo on lockbox, instructions included, "Please do not let any of the 4 cats out." Not giving it a second thought, appraisers get notes all the time, Cliff goes about his business (this is when loan officers could talk to appraisers), locks up house, puts lockbox key back. Turns around, there's a cat meowing. "Oh shizzle," picks up cat, opens door, throws cat in.

6 hours later we get a call our appraiser picked up the neighbors cat and threw it in the lady's condo.

Sorry, had to tell it (again).

It was freaky - the cat was young, but already larger than domestic house cats, and it would rush past you to get into other rooms before you did, and then hide in waiting for you - I swear, I had one eye on that cat the whole time, and we did not finish the walk through - I said "enough" to the agent and we left.

When the owner said "african" cat, are you sure they didn't mean it was a tiger cub?

It looked more like a bobcat than anything I have ever seen. It was a beautiful animal, just didn't want it looking at me like I was its next meal...

Most likely a Savannah. They are fairly new as a breed and still pretty wild.
