I always check if the house I'm going to buy here wasn't a past Meth house before I buy it.

When Chris and Jenny Nugent bought their dream home in Indiana, they made sure to get the house inspected for mold and damaged pipes.

But they never imagined they would also need to have the house tested for meth contamination.

My housecleaner has permanent health damage from cleaning up one of her rentals that was a previous Meth house. Very sad, she is the sweetest lady.

Yikes! I never dreamed of adding meth testing to the home inspection, boundary survey, radon testing, title search... due diligence before buying.

Seems the home belonged to the son of the listing realtor. His wife had left him two years before the home sold.

Well, now.

Our Sellers Disclosures now cover this issue and one must disclose if the house has ever been used in the manufacture or distribution of Meth.

I bet a lot of these houses will wind up being bulldozed.

But if they don't, down the road, information gets lost. You can't disclose something you have no first-hand knowledge of.

An Investor will buy them and flip them for a nice profit. The history will be lost.

Who does the meth contamination test? How do they measure it?

Question - if this was a rental, would the landlord be responsible for the health damages? Would their insurance cover the cleanup?

I'm surprised to hear what the symptoms were. I would expect more agitation than anything else. Must be more from the chemicals used to cook it? But house is still positive for METH?
