Best example I've seen of this: There's a nice looking house from a list site in the city we're looking to move to. I viewed it on Google Streetview and saw that the second floor was half burnt out in their 2013 images.
I know some places have really old images, but my town was updated this year with crisp images.
Streetview will tell you the image date in the corner.
Yesterday a buyer's agent and her client wanted to schedule an appointment for a showing, and my seller wasn't home, so they drove by and decided they didn't want to see the inside anymore. Seriously could have saved a trip if they drove by on the internet.
Oh well, on the plus side, I didn't have to show the house.

google actually has the same angle view for many locations if you zoom in enough. there's a 45* setting in the upper right corner menu in Classic Google Maps.

Very ture. Often times Google Street isnt up to date though. Things could look much better or much worse. My house isnt even on google street view, and The house has been here for 3+ years.

The Google tilt function is similar to Bing's Birds Eye view but birds eye is still a better view IMO. The angle seems to be lower.
Google street view doesn't get updated very often. Right now, for my new construction that I'm closing on next week, Google shows an empty field where there are now a few dozen houses. Granted, that's an extreme case, but even so, the photos are often out of date and don't reflect the current exterior and surroundings.
It's pretty common actually. When I built my previous house in 2010, the entire development was missing from Google Maps and all of the imagery. I contacted them and a few months later we existed. That development was already 7 years old when I started building my house.
Here we are 4 years later and my best friend across the street is still a dirt lot. They've lived there for over 4 years....and not on a pile of dirt! They also built a house.
