We lived in a transition apartment. Very nice and upgraded from the norm. But still can't help getting noise in apartments styles. The strangest noise was the woman who lived above and thumped like she was throwing down boulders. Then one day, she walk a few steps, stopped, and suddenly a big thump 2 yards away. And then more clumpy footsteps. What happened? Did she decide to jump those last few feet?
You may also be sensitive to the sound since it's so unusual to you, so odd being muffled.
This condo is very nice....and quiet...I was just surprised that I could hear noises from above since it's an all concrete building
The floors are the hardest to make soundproof. Different kind of system with pounds of pressure per square inch...or square 1/2 in with heels. If we walked on walls with the same pressure, could probably be heard in a similar muffled fashion.
