Where do you think this money is going to come from? When one buys a house they take a chance that they will lose money. You lost money that was part of the marital property. So did she.

Consider 1/2 of that $20,000 hers. She lost too.

You were married. The $20,000 belongs to both of you. Get a lawyer and pay a zillion dollars if you think otherwise to get the money back.

She stated she had to bring $2000 to closing to sell so sounds like you owe her $1000 which is your half.

Wait, did you own the house? How did she sell it alone without you signing at closing also? You said "we bought the house" but if you owned it, there is no way she could sell it without your signature.

The house was put in her name because her credit was better at the time. But it was my money that made the down payment. So looking bad I got screwed over.... again.

So you two were married and bought a house together, but for credit reasons put it only in her name. Once you separated, she continued to make the payments herself and has now sold the house which resulted in a loss and you feel like she screwed you over? Am I missing something?
