rent 1975 $210.00
rent 2015 $1600.00 same exact apt!
wage 1975 $1.40 per hour
wage 2015 for same job, same place is still open!-$2.15 per hour
THIS is the whole problem with everything! also
brand new car 1975 2500.00 chevy vega station wagon
brand new car 2015 20,000 for similar type

How the hell do you only make $2.15 a hour. Unless you're picking up cans on the road or you're making license plates in jail. Then you're living under a overpass or a jail cell.

That is figuring in inflation. And its negative 2.15. If wages kept pace with inflation since then, the average wage would be $2.15 higher today then it is.

Annual income 3X the annual rent, or monthly income 3X the monthly rent. Mathematically they are the same.

In practice just multiply the monthly rent by 36 and compare to annual income.
