I have a lakefront lot in a nearby community. The voluntary HOA fee is $100/year and entitles me to use of the community boat dock and ramp, pool, community hall and grill, etc. Since I don't actually live there I have no interest in joining.
Interesting reading about how much these amounts vary.
Our home in FL, which we are renting out:
$1263/Qtr for 3,000 sf home in small gated community. Pays for guard, electronic gate, clubhouse with gym, tennis courts and meeting room, landscaping/maintenance of common areas, irrigation, street lighting, holiday lighting, insurance, basic cable & alarm monitoring, community security patrol. No pool. Each house in the community was built with one.
Our home in CA:
260/month, 3200 sf home in much larger gated community. Pays for 2 guards for 2 gates, community security patrol, pool with towel service, tennis courts, landscaping/maintenance of common areas, irrigation, street lighting, holiday lighting, insurance, 3 summer concerts, weekly street cleaning.
