We are planning on putting our house on the market at the beginning of March. What should I expect from my realtor? I am planning on using my father. He is a realtor in an area close to me. He is not completely familiar with my area. He owns a small real esate company which is not known in our town. Will this hurt my chances for quickly selling my house? We plan on pricing it correctly. We have replaced just about everything one can replace in a house (upgraded applicances, hot water heater, ac unit, etc) Any advice I can get will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Your Realtor is your father. Not much you can expect outside of that relationship.

If he is a good Realtor, then he is a good Realtor, period.

Is he a member of the same MLS that services your property?

He is in the MLS service for our area. I am just worried we will not have many showings since he is with a smaller company.

Ally, if your house is going to be listed in your local MLS and he does the marketing that is needed then it shouldn't make any difference what size his company is. Buyer agents are going to get their information from the MLS and they won't rule out showing your house because of the size of the listing agency. At the same time, if his office is being called by a potential buyer about the home, he needs to make sure that the buyers have appropriate and timely access to the home if they want to see it.
On another note, I hope you have a great relationship with your father because you will need it. Basically, your father will be working for you and you will need to feel comfortable in the employer role and all that entails. Good Luck.
