I am going to look at a home today. It is an estate sale (I'm glad, I'm sick of looking at forclosures and short sales and all the trouble that comes with them).
Here is the situation. The house is priced at $359,000. This is probably not a bad price for the house itself, the house itself is probably worth closer to $350,000. The problem is that this house has had a lot of work put into it but it is in an older neighborhood where most people have not put much work into their homes lately (the homes were built in the 1960s). The homes around it are going for around $300,000. Zillow says this homes estimate is about $410,000 (although I don't find zillow to be very accurate).
What do you think is reasonable for the price as far as negotiations go (assuming this house works for us)? We would like to ask for closing costs.
You really need to talk with a local agent to help you with making a reasonable offer Agents from other states couldn't possibly give you accurate advice.
It's a non-issue anyway. Since I saw it this morning, three offers have come in on it. The only way I could get the house is to offer above asking price. Oh well...
