I think it is beautiful. It is not to my taste as it is a little busy but I would not call it a monstrosity.

Honestly, it just depends on the other houses in the area. If the house fits in with the general area, I think it's fine, if it sticks out then you get the awesome or ugly opinions.

We also have a few like this, which I find more attractive:

It's actually a pretty poor rendering but home builders only pay $300 for these so you get what you pay for.

Totally agreed.

New homes are also put together very poorly.

Very cheap materials.

None of the new houses pictured in this thread are appealing to me - at all!

I prefer pre-1935

Agreed - people say they will be outdated in 40 years.. most likely not standing! I've seen 10-20 year old homes that show more age-related damage than a 100 year old home. Materials aren't what they used to be.

I would say, having seen the same scenario (people moving into a neighborhood and building a house that completely ignores the neighborhood it is in and destroys the feel of the neighborhood by being so obviously out of place) acted out several times, not hardly, in response to your question about jealousy. That would be your own bias talking.

The house that was posted that was replaced by the monstrosity was just fine - looked like quite a nice house of its type.
