Default Dirt cheap real estate.

Anyone know a place where real estate is dirt cheap? Let's take the area where I grew up...Whigham, Georgia.

Whigham is dirt cheap. In fact, most of the area around Whigham is dirt cheap. There's a few manufacturing jobs around, but most jobs are farming related. The nearest city, Cairo Georgia has a SuperWalmart, a ball bearings factory and a McDonald's. They used to have a Subway, but it kind of died. Not a lot of people in that town. Prices are pretty low. The most fun on the weekends is getting a 6 pack and catching some bass. It's a great little town.

Anyone else care to share where real estate is dirt cheap?
Anyone need 43 acres? Trulia has 43 acres in Whigham for $430,000 bucks.

You know why it is so cheap? Well, Caterpillar in Thomasville pays 9 bucks an hour for a machinist. They "top out" at 14 bucks an hour. Torrington starts at about 13 bucks an hour. Topping out depends on the job. A lady I know has been working there for 26 years. She makes 20 bucks an hour.

26.....years.

Contrast that with Seattle, where the average home is like $400,000. I made 25 bucks an hour there (with over time I cleared about 72K a year). Interesting. A lot of people work in Tallahassee and live in Whigham. The drive is a pain - about an hour - but the jobs pay a lot better there.

Do you know of anyplace like that? I'm sort of tired about hearing about how all real estate is too high. Figured I'd start a thread about where it is too low, or as I like to say "My kind of town." HA HA HA!

43 acres for $430,000 is $10,000 an acre, that is in no way cheap.

Some areas of NY acreage goes for around $1,000 an acre
I have seen some in New Mexico for around $500 an acre
Texas $500/acre
Montana $2000/acre

I've seen land a lot cheaper than $500 in south Texas. It can't really sustain human life and limited varieties of plant life. Even in central Texas Hill Country near Austin, where I lived for a good bit of time, the summer afternoons always went up to 104 to 105 degrees with very high humidity. That's pushing somewhat near the limit of what a human can take.

NYS of Mind is on a distinguished road
Upstate NY - Schoharie Valley, Mohawk Valley and the southern tier in particular. Vacant land is a steal.

it appears to me the OP has some interest in getting that 43 acres of land sold.

43 acres for $430,000 conradicts his post about cheap land

Yeah, It's all my land. I'm was angling for Marmac to buy it. Dang, I have been caught. I must attempt to hide my shame. Thanks for cracking me up, sir/ma'am.

Then again, compared to Seattle, whedre I live - it's dirt cheap.

I was hoping someone might post some places where it's cheap to buy....like dirt cheap, even.

Strange.

I should title a post like that. Perhaps link some property. See if any one responds.

I gotta stop using sarcasm.
