Well it means taking a step backwards but I'd do it for this house. Right

I used to live on Juipter Is. It's a really nice place. Or was at the time. One good hurricane and it could disappear though. along with your 38 million - but I guess the rest of us would get to cover the loss.

Still no sale, Celine Dion pares another $7 million from price of Jupiter Island estate - Sun Sentinel

The listing price again has been reduced, this time to $38.5 million. That's $34 million less than the original $72.5 million asking price in 2013. Dion lowered the price last year to $45.5 million after her husband René Angélil died.

The 5.7-acre estate, located at 215 S. Beach Road, boasts enough features to rival many Florida resorts.

A water park was designed with the couple's three sons in mind -- a 16-year-old and 6-year-old fraternal twins. It includes two swimming pools that interconnect, two water slides, a bridge over a lazy river, a tree house and eight water cannons. There's also an infinity pool overlooking the ocean.

The 10,000-square-foot main house has two children's bedrooms with their own ensuite bathrooms. The master bedroom has a wraparound terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and two separate decks: one with an outdoor fireplace, the other with a hot tub. Dion's walk-in closet has fully automated clothing and shoe racks.

For those of you wondering........pool service alone is currently $16,000 per month, taxes are $357,000 per year.....plus staff, insurance, utilities, etc.
I guess if I get a riding lawn mower, I can do that lawn myself. I don't think I could afford to have it mowed professionally. That $39M will wipe out my savings account.

My guess is people want to avoid being targeted as water guzzlers.

I'm sure people who own something like that can afford insurance.

I read the story yesterday and if I recall she paid about $35 million and put in about the same amount to fix it up, waterpark, etc.

The thing is, if you are going to build a home worth that much you really should build on Miami beach or one of the exclusive islands around there.

I saw on the map that this area is about 20 miles north of West Palm Beach so there are a lot of rich people in that area too, and the more land you want on the water the further away from Miami you have to move.
