Want to build a house in the desert. My budget is $50,000 and that includes the whole thing, from materials, to building/setting it up (I can't do it myself), to furniture, appliances, solar panels for electricity etc.
Any ideas?
I'm looking into maybe a monolithic dome house like this:
usadomes.com
Unfortunately that company does not seem to be active anymore, but when it was a pre-built dome like that cost $11k. So something like that is what I'm looking for.

what about the land?
and the mechanicals? (water/sewer/electric at least)

You'll need $50,000 before the first 2x4 shows up.
Start with ideas that don't involve reinventing the wheel.
The land, the legalities, taxes etc and all ground work to prepare for a home,
the mechanicals and a proper foundation to support a structure = $X
An offsite manufactured house delivered and set on that foundation
and all the connections needed to make it work = $Y
Appliances, fixtures, furniture and all the rest = $Z
How much space do you need? A mobile home or a "tiny house" might be your best bet. $50k isn't going to go very far towards building and furnishing a traditional house.
800 sqf would probably be the smallest I could go for. Should have living area, kitchen, separate bedroom and bathroom.
Just strange that it costs this much. I checked what it cost to build a garage. Between $7k - $25k depending on size. How come it's much cheaper to build a garage than a house? The garages for $25k are probably over 500 sqf.
Maybe try to buy an old Classroom and rennovate it
