Our house has 2 full and 2 half baths. Zillow claimed we only had 2 full bathrooms. My husband tried to correct it but...Zillow won't let us properly correct it. Now it says we have 4 bathrooms---technically yes, I suppose...
This may be wrong in the county records or wherever zillow is pulling from. I'm pretty sure there isnt some guy in a cubicle at zillow changing the records on your house. You are blaming the wrong place.
Does it really matter, this is Zillow you're talking about after all. Anyone who goes there expecting accurate data isn't someone worth bothering about.
I find mistakes on MLS listings too. That's often where the zillow mistakes come from, but in fairness not always.
I use zillow for the map, the lot line, a quick birds eye view and the exact same write up and picture info as from the MLS.
If I'm still interested I do more research.
Saves a lot of time.
We had just found out that our house is listed on Zillow & Trulia as a foreclosure. It WAS a foreclosure when we bought it 4 years ago. In fact, on the listing it does say when we bought it and how much we paid. It also says that it is bank owned-we bought it out-right. The bank does not own it. It also has the same description as it did 4 years ago. On Realtor.com it says "off market" on those two sites it says "contact for estimate" or "contact foreclosure agent."
The person who told us that it is on there said that he called his real estate agent about it. I wondering how many other people are asking about it.
How did these sites make such a mistake and how do we get the house off of these sites?

Because there's very little human intervention in Zillow -- lots of information feeding into it and mistakes are only handled when people scream. We had a $3.5 million listing that took Zillow a MONTH to straighten out -- listed it as a rental only, not as a sale. We sent several corrections through "official" channels, and nothing happened - they just kept saying (a week later), "Well, that's the feed we're getting". We had to get our brokerage involved before they finally corrected it, and it took three days.
Obviously Zillow is using the old tax information, which is probably incomplete. If your house isn't for sale (I'm thinking that maybe it isn't, after re-reading your post), then you need to send an strong email to Zillow, ideally followed by a cease-and-desist letter from an attorney. It would be nice if you could sue them for mental anguish, but that's probably asking a lot. :-)
