If I'm going to spend $2M, it's going to be in front of the most beautiful beach in the universe.

I wonder when someone realizes that a 2.4 million dollar land is not a good deal.... what happens to real estate in California...

I wouldn't do that, property tax is a deal breaker...

Wow--that has to be the worst curb appeal ever for a 2 1/2 million dollar house!

It may have been re-decorated but not renovated - sunken living room and wasted space on a dining room, even if it is somewhat open. And is that the BEST of the bedrooms they're showing...apparently not even a master. Glad I don't live in that area!

The neighborhood is average, the tract house was built in 1963 and is not very large. (A friend of mine lives next door.)

However, 95% of the houses in this area (including town houses) sell for $1 million-plus. The buyers were desperate and could afford it with two tech salaries. Timing is everything as housing is supply-and-demand. Ten years ago the house would have gone for $500k at the most. Sunnyvale has historically been a middle-class area with reasonable housing and decent schools. Tech industry has driven up the COL to where it is no longer feasible to live here unless you bought 20-30 years ago. I expect Highway 101 will have housing on both sides right up to the road shoulders in the future because we are almost out of space.

All it would take is a decent-sized earthquake to thin out the area. Loma Prieta sent many transplants packing back in 1989.

Unreal. That might get $100K in Cleveland.

No thanks!

I lived in San Francisco proper for some time as a renter. Beautiful city but the COL was absurd. I also got tired of hearing about how it was "the best city in the US" or "the best place in the world." It was nice and all, but come on.

I guess you have to convince yourself of that if you are paying those prices.

I agree. My bet is that the buyer will tear it down and rebuild, or do a complete renovation.
