Oh yeah, OP. I have the DVR full of house porn shows, three feeds into my email from on-line RE sites and even DREAM about the damn things at night. I freely acknowledge that I have a problem & at least am not alone.

I love looking at other houses, but I'm not moving unless it's needed. I like the area, my kids school and my home. Moving is such a pain, we moved to another state 2 ears ago. I have no intentions on doing it again any time soon!

Building new is so much easier than renovating and repair. But, for the last several houses it's been R & R. Urgh! Dunno if we're gonna do a new build next or just fluff out the one we're in. It'd be nice to have another garage, maybe a gazebo, etc. But we still look at houses, especially ones directly next to ones we already have.

I’m planning to buy a house in a few years as I constantly pull up several apps to browse them.

“House window shopping” is so much fun even if you’re not actively in the market for one. You can see how the rich live, what’s new, what’s failing to sell, take virtual tours, envision putting your furniture in certain areas, etc

There's a reason HGTV's House Hunters show has aired more than 1780 episodes...

Not only do we get to see houses but we also get to snoop and critique what other people did to them.

The House Hunters show tag line is, "You know you want to look!" I have an even worse problem. I can't stop buying them.

I HATE my house, and very much dislike the area I live in (I bought this place more out of necessity than desire). I find myself looking ALL...THE....TIME...Heck, for that matter, I dislike the region of the country I live in. There's absolutely no where in this state that I'd want to go, or any neighboring state either (I moved here 12 years ago on a whim of a younger, much less experienced me) Closest place would be about 1500 miles away, as the crow flies. Given the opportunity, I'd jump this ship so freaking fast....

But then, I have a good job that I enjoy, with a solid company, and I can't say that I'd be willing to walk away from that either to go to an unknown. Then there is also the cost of moving. Both real monetary expenses, and time expense. It was a big enough pain in my backside when I moved 30 miles away, and was able to do so over the course of several weeks. Now to do it in one go, over 1500 miles, AND do so with two more vehicles plus a boat? I can't even begin to imagine....

The company moved us frequently. And we had to get what was available at that instant in the school zone the kids needed. So we bought a dog, remodeled and then sold when the school needs were met.

Therefore, I'm programed to moved every 2 or 3 years.

After 20+ moves we are in our age in place house. I'm ready to sell. But at 80, am I ready to reap another house?

Sorry to hear that but I have been in your situation where I didn't like the house or especially the area I lived in.

I also have taken jobs in other areas of the country and ended up not liking the area

I've learned to not be so impulsive, lol.

I ended up quitting a job in a very stable industry to come back up to my snow belt

People said that I was crazy/stupid (or both) but I told them I would rather live in a damn barn in Erie than live another minute where I was even if it was in a mansion.

It was a brutal move since it was DIY but it was worth it. I would do it 30x over if I had to if that's what I had to do to escape where I was
