Buying your first home is an enormous lesson. I was 24 when I purchased my first, too, and was astounded by the process and by what I had no idea about. Several years later, we sold it and purchased our second home. Another highly surprising process when it came to selling. If you think you're being nickeled-and-dimed now... oh man, just wait! LOL

We sold that second one, rented for a while, and then bought our current home four years ago. This time we finally felt like we really knew what we were doing, what to look for, what to say no to. And trust me, a $14 credit report fee is not one of those things to say no to. You're not going to win a battle of wills against Chase Bank, LOL. They have plenty of applicants and they do not care about you going elsewhere (where you will also have to pay fees for this and that). Just roll with it. Save the ire for the day your well pump, dishwasher, and septic system are all giving you trouble on the same weekend. True story.
