Daughter selling a home with huge electrical towers running next to the one acre property. My dad would say there is an a$$ for every toilet seat. What % of buyers would say the wires are a no go on buying the otherwise nice home?

Well, your daughter bought it.

There's no scientific number.

I would never buy a house next to those huge high tension wire towers. Never. Too many stories about health issues.

About the same % as when daughter bought there.

There are some people who believe that living near high tension electrical wires causes all kinds of health issues and wouldn't buy the house even if your daughter put it on the market for $1.00

Of course your dad is right about there being an azz for every toilet, lol.

There are also a lot of people who don't give an arse about living by the towers and will buy the house if it appeals to them. I've bought homes by high tension wires and I've rejected homes by high tension wires--but not because of the wires themselves.

I'm not sure of an exact percentage but I don't think that it would be that high...

Your daughter undoubtedly got a nice discount when she bought the property, so she should expect to give the same now.

Aside from the health risk they are believed to pose (whether you are believer or not) they are incredibly ugly.

Out here, I'd say 99% of buyers would call it a deal breaker. You only need one buyer though.

bigger problem aesthetically than scientifically. There are those scared to death of high voltage lines. But that is pretty much irrational as you get more exposure from the wiring in your house than a high tension line 60 yards away.

But they are ugly and detract from the property. Once had a client couple get into a real snit when they failed to get a high voltage line property after they made a quite reasonable bid...they did not care but unfortunately neither did the opposing bidder. I was actually amazed.

I wouldn't buy a property like that and I ruled it out because the high EMF would disrupt the antenna for my radios.

Also, I'd be concerned about potential health risks. Look what a high EMF field beneath the lines does to fluorescent lamps:
