Really, Corus? Well, a victory for them would be a fascinating jolt to the bidness…..

Sounds like one of those patent troll companies that force people to court in Texas where there is a racket going on shaking companies down.

Yeah, reeks of a shakedown. Patent-trolling has become a big racket.

Usually, it is a matter of bullying a little guy.
Trolling scum like Zillow, with more attorneys than ethics, is a nonstarter if one doesn't have a solid case.

That's rich. A realtor calling Zillow scum.

And supporting a patent troll? Double rich.

Don't like anyone educating the customer, eh?

Actually, when one trolls he typically trolls for the biggest fish. And, this fits the mold of a parasite looking for a fat host to bleed some cash from. This is a classic example. If not Zillow, Redfin or any other RE website, whether they’re a brokerage or MLS fed site or anything else.

The other famous example which took years to wind its way through the courts and get denied on appeal, was Apple and a company called Personal Audio LLC. They had a patent (they claimed) on the podcast, basically the concept of audio programming and distribution to subscribed clients from a central host. They won $8 Million from Apple in a jury trial in 2011 and it took til 2017 to get it reversed.

Think of a recliner chair. It’s one thing to patent he hardware design for the internal workings, but another to patent the idea of a chair that leans back.
