We were hoping we might make it under the wire, but didn't happen. They didn't quite finish the closing until 5:15 pm on Friday. Not a big deal, but would have been nice if we could have swung it. They had to reschedule it at the last minute due to a blizzard grounding their plane, so I guess that meant getting the last appointment of the day.

Unfortunately by the time we found that out it wasn't an option. I'm a little annoyed with my realtor about this, to be honest. She knew the situation, and should have told us about this option.
When we sold a house before moving cross country several years ago, my wife left first and I stayed behind to sign whatever docs needed to be signed (no realtor involved). She gave me her power of attorney, properly notarized, before she left and I signed all the docs for her.

The last house we sold in 2017, we never met the buyers. They FedEx'd their docs to the title company and we stopped in when we were in town to do a final pickup of what we were taking from the house. The money was wired to our bank the next day. Our realtor told us that all financial transfers related to sales in that area were by wire.

Here in Florida, all the financial transactions are by wire now because of the amount of fraud with cashiers checks that was going on. Title companies will still accept deposit checks but not closing monies. It also means Sellers don't have to wait for their money with a cashiers check.
