Personally, I'd love to live surrounded by cemeteries or national forests. It wouldn't bother me a bit and on the plus side, you'd never have to travel to do any ghost hunting. And it would be quiet.

I've always felt very peaceful in cemeteries. I lived across from one for years and I still go up and sit at the top of the hill in the cemetery to watch the Fourth of July fireworks.

With the exception of the funeral services. They're almost the best neighbors you can have. No parties or loud gatherings, no annoying pets, and the yard is always maintained.

One of our homes in RI had a cemetery right along our back yard. What great neighbors the residents were! I would walk my dog there when it was open and she never had a problem - no cars to distract her and what a great location for training. The entrance was just 2 houses away from ours so it was quite convenient. We got along quite well the neighbors.

I'd only worry about my property value. Presumably, I could buy at a lower price and therefore would sell at a lower price because of people's feelings about being near a cemetery. Otherwise, it wouldn't bother me at all.

Love a cemetery. Where I come from, people use the very park like cemetery. In fact, it was built during a time where it was considered normal to use the cemetery as a park. It’s a safe place to walk for exercise, people rode bikes, during the summer, workers would eat their lunches out there. The cemetery had signs and would let the public know when a burial would take place. As in, John Smith service 2 PM June 3.

Our little churchyards weren’t as user friendly.

So I’d live near a good cemetery.

And, just do you don’t think I’m crazy ...

I think it would be fine. You would be close to a low traffic area that is peaceful and unoccupied by the living. It isn't likely to be torn up and built on. I think if you drove past it 5 times, you would simply not think about it any more. It would just be part of your drive.

If the cemetery has problems with maintenance, then that would be a problem. You might check into that before buying into the area.

As for myself, I am not spooked by cemeteries per se, I have enjoyed walking in very old, historic, cemeteries church yards, and looked at the graves, the carvings, and the names, and enjoyed the peacefulness and sense of history.

Then I leave.

I would not want to live right beside one. For property values, at the very least.

Probably the best neighbors ever. My uncle's home had a cemetery out his backyard...not his backyard. He is actually now buried there now with his wife.
He had great views, no houses blocking sunset, lots of birds and trees. I would think it would be desirable. It did creep me out when I was younger but not for long.
