LOL Townhouse = run down row house? what?

In the DC area, even outer suburbs, these go for premium, some of these townhouses are nicer than SFH's.

I will agree with you on the overpriced, though. Case in point, exhibit A:

My impression is that condos are not very common in Texas in general, except maybe in the downtown areas of the bigger cities. I might be wrong, though.

Is there a stigma in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex against condos/apartments?

Interesting, thanks. Those located a few blocks from the beach and selling for $60,000-100,000 are in safe areas?

hard to find a one bedroom. Most are two or more bedroom.

That's right. I've noticed that it's not always easy to find 1-bedrooms, or studio apartments. And the truth is,even 1-bedrooms that would be considered small by American standards are still pretty big by many other developed and prosperous countries' standards.

In general anything a few blocks from the beach is going to be in a safe and decent area. The real questions should be how much are the HOA fees and how much are the property taxes. and is the building too old to get regular mortgage financing and are there assessments coming up that will cost each resident $20K or more or add $500 a month to the HOA fees for many years.

On Long Island, the range is wide

The most expensive one on the market right now is $990,000 (new water front community) We don't know what taxes will be, but this being Long Island, you can be sure they'll be high...

The bulk of the 1-bedroom condos are between $200-$500k, with a few lower priced ones in "less desirable" neighborhoods.

Our oceanfront condos here are between $90,000 and $180,000 and are 2-bedroom. We use our 2nd bedroom as an office. HOA is $170 monthly, taxes are $60 annually. (coast of Ecuador)

How much are condos in Israel, OP?

The median price of a condo in Montreal is 328K Canadian dollars (of any number of bedrooms). A standard new construction one bedroom condo in the heart of downtown will run you about 500K roughly. You can find small, run down old 1 bedroom condos in undesirable areas far from the core for 100K. You can find enormous luxury 1-bedroom units downtown for 800K.

There are no condos in my immediate town. There are no apartments or rentals either, everything is single family homes. However, if you leave my town, and go into the major city we live near, the costs can vary wildly. I am not sure ours even has 1 bedrooms, as I haven't looked, but I have seen 2 bedrooms. They can range from about $100K-$600K depending on the area, the amenities, etc....I live outside of Charlotte, NC.
