Didn't think of Craigslist. AirBnB cost-wise, is going to be similar to a hotel/motel rate.

I wouldn't assume AirbnB is going to be that expensive. Firstly, if the Airbnb is a secondary bedroom in someone's house, it's going to be cheaper than an individual motel room. Secondly, many Airbnb owners will discount for longer stays - and two months would probably qualify as a longer stay.

Craigslist will be your best bet, if you need something cheap.

I would do Airbnb or an extended stay hotel, which come in basic cheap form all the way up to highend amenities and finishes. There should be something for all budgets if it's a decent sized area.

If I were relocating without a place to stay for a couple of months I think I'd go for a cheap camper. I would either buy a camper or just a topper (if you own a truck) and sleep in the back. I'd join a gym for the showers and take advantage of stealth camping. Maybe your new employer would allow you to live in the company parking lot until you move into your home. When you're done with the camper you could sell it. One of my old employers ran 12 hour shifts and a few people bought campers and lived in the lot on their work "tours".

You have to get creative. Any decent motel is going to run 100+ a night. Not many people can shell out 3000 dollars a month just for rent. Same for an Airbnb.

The obvious is still a motel (of some sort)...

Few, if any, who are looking for a roomie will want a known short termer like this.
So... are you planning to tell them the deal up front or wait until your house is "ready" to spring it on them?

What city? That info would help.

Miami has high rises that actually rent rooms but that $1400 a month is way over your budget.

You have to pay to join, but it's easier than filtering out the scams on craigslist.
