Redfin's app seems to have the most up to date info. I've often found Zillow to be lagging. As far as their estimate value capabilities, people will argue till the end of time about their accuracy.

Zillow is better.

It’s easy to make fun puns of their name.

Redfin is an actual real estate site, and has invested in MLS RETS feeds. Ergo the up to date accuracy.
Zillow takes what people give them and pop appraisals are their primary value proposition.

I like Zillow but I was under the impression they are owned by the same entity.

They are, but haven't always been.

Actually, neither are accurate. Nobody from either company ever sees your house. They don't know whether you're next door to a gas station, have an ocean view or any of the many determinants of value. However, for folks not in the RE business and with no access to data, I guess they're fun to play with.

Zillow has owned Trulia since last year.

Go with Realtor.com. Up-to-date and reliable, as far as I can tell.

My two favorite sites are Zillow and Redfin. I am not looking to buy, just browsing.
