Why are you all making excuses for this guy's lack of professionalism? You get an email you return it before you go to bed for the evening....you get a phone call ...you return it after normal business hours the same day. Real estate is a communication business. What other business operates with "free" inventory? In 25+ years, I have never not returned a call or an email the same day. It can be done and in fact, must be done.
Wow...why don't you go back and reread the posts? Nobody has stood up for this guy but there was some discussion as to reasonable time to return calls and business days. There was also a question about who he should be reported to.
BTW, if you say you've never NOT returned a call the same day over the last 25 years I'd say your nose is growing. I'd suggest reading more carefully before responding because you also were whining on a different thread about how you get paid.
Stuff happens. I've called, emailed, and texted my agent when emergencies have arisen. Been PO'd, only to find out she was in the middle of a closing.
I had to take a deep breath, and realize, hey, I'm not her only client. Not only that, but I probably shouldn't be calling her after 6. We all have lives, real estate agents are no different.
Three days might be a long while, perhaps not acceptable. But just think about what it is you are needing from the agent and can it wait an extra day? If not, then there is a lack of communication and you may need someone who can fit your needs better. Just my 2 cents.
There is definitely no excuse for taking 3 days to reply. I do generally try to stop working after 7:00 every evening if at home but I will still take calls to my cell. I can't remember ever taking a Sunday off from all calls and emails but every agent is different. I do have kids but I knew what I was getting into when I started Real Estate and have been doing it long enough to know what is expected of me from my clients. Open houses get a bad rap for some reason. I have sold a few homes from open houses so I would never discourage a seller from having one if they wanted. Your agent being busy is no excuse, and neither is the fact that they are also the broker. Selling a home can be a stressful situation in this market. Your agent should be working hard for you to keep the stress level down. Good luck!
Hey Aschwar, you are right on, anytime we have a sehceduled showing, our office sends an email, and txt to the owner, and the hardest thing to do is get feedback from the showing agent. We have 10 agents, and everyone is expected to monitor their cell phones, and probably the biggest complaint against anyone in the service field is as you mentioned. Every client I work with has my cell, and if Im busy, I still answer and call back as soon as possible. I even carry it to Church, respond with txt, and you should never wait past a day. We work with a lot of out of towners, and just the last contract I wrote, we spent 3 days looking, and on day 4, put in a contract. Now to respond to the listing agents, and I try and do that in the pm, usually late at night. Good luck, and make sure you communicate your wishes, and find a good one.
