Buyers of property from the over 65 crowd in NYS may save hundreds or thousands on taxes the first year.
I don't know about other states but our buyers will have their Sept school taxes reduced by our senior(Enhanced STAR) exemption of $1800.
It was a nice surprise to them at closing.
Also disappointing to us since we will have to pay full tax on our new place.
Could be a nice negotiating point for a senior seller.
