Default NW Indiana real estate market

Anyone have any idea how the NW Indiana real estate market is doing? We are about to close on a house in Valparaiso. My husband is expected to lose his job early next year so we will probably be putting the house on the market early spring. I expect we will lose some money but hoping it won't be too much. How long do houses typically stay on the market in this area? Also does acreage help or hurt? Thank you for your help.

Wow, you're really going to go through with the purchase. Aren't you terrified?

I don't know your market, but I'm sure whoever does will only be able to tell you what it's like now and not what it's going to be like next spring...that is a long way off. Doomers will tell you it's going to get a lot worse. Optimists will tell you there's hope for the market to level off by then.

Whatever the outcome, good luck. I still feel bad that you let the sellers bully you into buying their house.
