Yes you have rights.
However, where I live, the small township property tax is used mainly for maintaining and building the township gravel roads.
You don't wanna pay?
Don't ever set foot on those roads to get to town.
FREELOADERS are just as despised as people who constantly push maximum taxes/spending.

Do not use what you do not pay for. Now there is something I agree with.

That is a common misconception that those who do not want to pay property taxes wish to free load. I posted private solutions for paying for roads. Besides there are already other means used to pay for the maintenance of roads such as sales taxes. I may not agree with the federal income tax but that is already being used for maintaining the interstates.
You missed this earlier post.

Stay in the city and compain about property taxes cuz it appears you have no idea how rural roads are financed.
Seems you want to move someplace and be the one to tell everyone what they are doing wrong in financing rural road upkeep.
Do us rural folks a favor, and stay where you are.
Don't need more "wanna be homesteaders" moving in and telling us what we are doing wrong.

There are some of those kinds of school situations out there. They're typically somewhat flukey because it involves some sort of large scale business (auto plant, mega-shopping center, massive resort development) paying enough property taxes to the district that the residential areas are effectively subsidized from a property tax standpoint.
Strict libertarian values- great in theory, not so great in practice because in the real world it takes a fairly strong government in order to adequately protect individual property rights. (see Somalia)

You continue to ignore this quote below which was my point in posting here.

I am using this forum to research areas for relocation and are not here to debate tax policy with you or middle-aged-mom. You both seem to have a pro-tax agenda in questioning my research since you fail to recognize the quote above, are putting words in my mouth and are lecturing me on your belief system.
No where did I state that I want to dictate to anyone how they should live or how you finance your roads. I have been pretty clear stating the just the opposite since I believe in and want to live in a free society. I also want to live and die in a home

I am in the same situation. It's tough to find cheap land with cheap to no taxes. I plan to live in a R.V. full time to avoid the costs of owning a house permanently perched on dirt.
I am looking at the midwest due to vast availablity of land. The east coast, where I am located now, is far too expensive and built up.
That MSN web site about taxes by state confused me greatly.

This ain't gonna happen. Any decent land that's not desert is gonna have schools, roads, bridges and other stuff that causes taxes. You might find something in Death Valley but living there might be a problem.

Looks I will just have to go back the best of the lowest property tax counties in the Tax Foundation link I posted. I thought maybe there were some desolate counties in those states without any property taxes since there were no services being offered.
