we are looking for a historical type house with memorable architecture. I am looking for a diamond in the rough. An old estate with neglected gardens.

We favor an east coast flavor and want to be surrounded by other old houses and lovely yards

My favorite magazine is coastal living. I love painted furniture,painted woodwork and light fresh fabrics. Perhaps a bit tropical-plantation-saltillo tile-etc.We are willing to transform the right house.

Washington St. Cumberland Maryland. You will find a lot of historic homes and prices are not outragous in that area. Dont know what is for sale, but its worth checking into.
Here is an MLS listing for a 1930's era home in Aiken, SC. Aiken has a very active garden club.
