Where is the best place to find land for sale? I am specifically looking for Maine and/or Northern Virginia (within 1 hour-ish of DC).

I find the best raw land information comes either from "nickel want ad" type classifieds or working with someone in the area that knows the nuances of things like schools and access to the land and availibility of powers, wells etc.

land and farm - lands of america are super sites for raw land - forget the nickel want ads
