Default Opinions on the Houston real estate market?

I am looking to buy in HOuston. I would love some opinions on the housing market here (specifically in 77024 and 77079). Do you think it's possible to get a really good deal? Thanks!

Try posting this in the Texas forum..there's a category specifically for Houston.
Oh and BTW..the recession has finally hit Texas so we didn't "escape" it like some people think.

houston market hasn't seen much appreciation so the home prices have fallen little to none. The only thing that will push down prices is layoffs and maybe the commodity markets meltdown. However, that will probably effect more of rural land prices that were used for farming.
