I put in bamboo floor in my daughter's room about 5 years ago. It was a huge plus in the sale of my home this year. I did the work myself and it wasn't any more $$ than a good laminate. It was cheaper than hardwood, very durable(harder and more scratch resistent than most engineered hardwoods).
As for laminate, I personally don't care for it, but some of it is much nicer than it used to be. My first thought with laminate is that 80s plastic looking laminate, but they have come a long way and might be better than tired carpet.
I am preparing to sell my house in a couple of years. My upstairs carpet needs to GO! Due to two adult children currently living at home, we live with 6 cats and 4 dogs. I need a pet-friendly floor on my stairs, upstairs hallway, and bedrooms. I love laminate but am afraid it might bring down the value of my home. Do you think it would turn off potential buyers?
It would be a deal breaker for me and many other people.
