That's sad. Could you imagine coming home from work and finding your house mostly demolished.

Since it happened before April 30, I wonder if there is a Govt tax credit for tearing down and buying a new home ?

Sucks to be the guys who tore the house down. Unfortunately major screw ups like that happen more than we care to think. A real estate company in my area sent a preservation crew to trash out the wrong house. It's not a demo job, but definitely not what you want to come home to after a long day at work. The crew emptied the house of EVERYTHING...took it all to the dump, changed the locks, and winterized the house. They were supposed to do this to the house next door. I don't know how that brokerage is still in business, but I know everyone involved in that snafu was terminated.

FWIW, this was basically an abandoned house and was also slated by the city for demolition in a few months' time, unless extensive repairs were done.

It's still a screw-up, but it's not as if the crew went into a fully-occupied home and started tossing out big-screen TVs, food from the fridge, etc.

The house had not been occupied for some time, and the owner was living with her children in another (much nicer) suburb of Dallas about 30 miles away.
