I think it has, but I think we're talking about two kinds of messy. Type one of messy is that the sellers don't have a handle on their kids and pets. That's the underwear-on-the-chandelier type mess.
Type two is the grow-corn-in the-bathtub messy. That's where sellers don't have a handle on kids, pets or mental faculties.

I have a bug story. I am afraid of spiders My husband and I had a potential remodel project in CA years ago. It was a little farm house in between Sacramento and the bay area. The lady instructed us to go to the side of the house because she never used her front door. When we arrived we could not tell front from back or side because of the overgrown grass and junk piled around. We went to what we thought was the side door. I glanced up and saw thousands of giant orb spiders just a few inches above my head. Looking to the side of me, same thing. I started to faint and my husband started pounding on the door. A little dirty kid answered and I said "I need to come inside right away." Of course she would not open the door...I looked crazy. The mom finally came to the door and let us in. When we got inside we stepped over dirty poopy diapers and underwear as well as half eaten sandwiches, and low and behold the spiders were all over the inside of her house. I do not remember going back to the car, I think I blacked out.

As I said in my OP I flip houses, I don't like that term it sounds cheesy like a used car salesman, be that as it may. I see some scary houses, and often I recall my mother asking me as a child when my room was messy "if I was raised in a barn" or "clean up my pig sty" well being raised on a farm and still having one. I can tell you with 100% certainty that I have been in many barns and a few pig sty's that were cleaner than some of the houses I've been in. It is beyond my understanding how people live like that and not see it for the disgusting mess it really is. I mean there's clutter, we all have it then there are those nasty, filthy places some people call home. I have a very strong stomach and I've only been ran out of one house, and the fire department ended up using it as a training house by burning it down. The stink just went to deep to get out.

I think all this talk about bugs and dirt in houses is giving me nightmares! After my alarm clock went off this morning, I fell back asleep and dreamt I was in a house that I was thinking about buying (but I was living in it) and it was fairly empty but very dirty and then I saw a giant spider that was so round it looked like it was going to have babies, and then they started hatching and crawling out of it's skin--baby spiders everywhere. I think I need to stop reading this forum!

The worst part was this had been a lovely custom home on a huge lot with a pool you couldn't afford to dream about today. That poor home was totally thrashed. And there were rats. Big naked tailed rats! We went into the garage and right in the middle was a huge hole with a tunnel leading under the house. Apparently, the sewer problem was where the main line connected to the house line and someone was trying to find the problem. Now here's the really sick part. It was listed for 264K. And they had 11 offers and finally sold at 325K. And this was just a couple WEEKS ago!

It sold for 61K over the asking price in that condition? And to think I was worried about the stains on the carpet when I sold my house!

That's it??? ... I've found a dead dog in the attic once (nothing but bones, been there a while), a dead squirrel under a table, dried and stiff. I went in a house last week that had paths through the clutter ... and I'm a buyer not an agent. Some people live worst than pigs.

This house that was in escrow 18 years ago.I was so eager to sell this because I was a rookie,It was rented.Renters moved out,the entire place was full of holes, cockroaches all over the place.Someone broke in,made more holes, trashed the whole place. There was even manure. .Then one thing after another, never sold this place.I can't remember which house it is anymore.Actually,I really don't want to remember .There are times when I still think about this place
