2 lbs sweet or hot italian sausge- I buy the family package
1 red bell pepper cut into strips
1 yellow bell pepper cut into strips
1 large onion sliced thin
3 cloves of garlic chopped
28 oz can crushed tomatoes
2 tsp Itlalian seasoning
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
pinch red pepper flake (optional)

placed peppers, onions in the bottom of a crockpot. In the mean time brown the sausages on both side for about 3 minutes in a large skillet on medium high heat. transfer sausages to crockpot. pour crushed tomatoes over the sausage, add salt, pepper, red pepper flake and Italian seasoning. Give it a stir. put lid on and turn crockpot to high. Cook for 5-6 hours. Serve with rice or pasta. If you have a homemade pasta sauce already made you can use that and it works just as well. I have used my Marinara and it's delicious.

That sounds like my hubby's favorite meal. He likes it this way. I don't because he likes the sausage mushy Your's sounds better to me

2-3 Green Peppers
10 Johnsonville Sweet Italian Sausage
A big jar of Prego Traditional

Slice peppers and place in bottom. Lay sausage on top and pour the sauce to cover. Cook on low all day. Skim off any fat when almost done.

Thanks Lubby, the sausage is in the fridge, sauce made & thats tomorrow's dinner. I found 1 lb bags of diced onions and sliced peppers together in the freezer dept. at BJ's and it cuts prep time in half.

Your recipe sounds like it would make a great sandwich too.

I've done something similar and made sandwhiches out of it. I slice the bread in half, put some garlic butter and mozarrella cheese, then put it under the broiler for a bit. Add the sausage and peppers and a little more cheese. Scoop out a bowl of sauce for dipping. Yummmmmm
