1 cup sugar
3/4 salted butter softened
1 tbsp baking powder-double acting
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
3 cups all purpose flour
1 egg white slightly beaten
3 Tbsp sesame seeds

Into a large bowl, measure sugar, butter, baking powder, vanilla salt, eggs and flour. Mix well with hands. It will take sometime to knead all the ingredients together or you can use the dough hook attachement on your stand mixer.. The dough should be soft and pliable. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. With hands roll 1 Tbsp of dough into a 6" rope, twist rope around finger and form a coil and place on a cookie sheet. Repeat. Brush cookies with egg white and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on racks. Sometimes my mom sprinkles some of the cookies with those colored non-peril sprinkles.

I am not sure if this is an authentic greek cookie but it's one recipe she has been making for 30 years and I love them. It's a light cookie that goes great with coffee or Tea.

I live for new sesame-seeds recipers, and this one sounds wonderful! Now, is that 3/4 C of butter? 3/4 stick of butter? 3/4 lb of butter?
