Duke's is a SOUTHERN mayo. Started here in the south (actually by a Mrs. Eugenia Duke in Greenville, SC) about 90 years ago and has NEVER had sugar in it. Go check any other mayo and it has sugar listed as an ingredient. The History of Duke's Mayonnaise (broken link) Duke's Mayonnaise - Get in on the Secret of Great Southern Cooks Liz
Liz - I totally agree with you! I have EIGHT jars of Duke's in my pantry!!!! I love that stuff!

<noticing that Q hasn't issued my invitation despite my huge hint to her>

The 6 years I lived in MI, I had mine shipped to me until I was able to ORDER it online. Unless we were making a trip south and I could stock up. LOL. It's the ONLY thing I never adjusted to while out west or up north. I DID have to use something else the two years while overseas...shipping costs were too outrageous. Liz

You should contact Duke's and tell them that!! Surely that gets you some sort of Most Loyal Customer Award for a lifetime supply or something!!

Does that fry daddy have a suggested setting for fried chicken. You can put anything you want on fried chicken but the secret to great chicken is to have the grease the right temperature. It needs to be fried chicken not grease soaked chicken. I am not known as the best cook in the area, but my fried chicken has gotten raves. I just put salt and pepper in regular self-rising flour, coat the chicken and fry at about 400 degree oil--not lard, cooking oil. Lay out on paper towels to drain. If the fry daddy you are using suggests a different temperature, use it, because my memory may be wrong. It has been a long time since I fried chicken. I now bake it.

Liz is right about the Duke's mayonnaise. I recently bought another kind because it was fat free. Not worth bringing home!
