We tend to make caldos, or stews but since we had about just one day of what we consider cold to floridians.

Next cold snap I will make 40 garlic chicken and bake some bread to along with it.

Anything that keeps the oven on for a loooooong time. Baking cookies, roasts, turkey, etc.

Quick breads are an hour in the oven; always my first choice.

Usually I save a canning chore or two for a cold winter day as well. I still have some cranberry mustard and cranberry chutney to make.

Cold winter days like this I bake a lot of cookies,breads,carrot/banana loafs,scones,biscuits or roast nuts,chick peas for events,for parties,and for ourselves. I try to cook ahead,use the oven for cobblers,casseroles or baked chicken dishes such as tandoori,chicken tikka. Yes in winter my kitchen is my favorite place to be,explains why in Bavaria in the villages they have so many kitchen niches with a bench bed to rest on
