When I look through recipe magazines once in awhile I will se pasta with a white sauce on it that looks really good. What would be the recipe for that sauce? Any other ideas are appreciated.

One of the easiest ones that I enjoy is to melt some butter with a little olive oil (or not) and sautee some minced garlic and fresh parsley or basil. Toss the pasta with the garlic-herb mixture and top the pasta with Romano or Parmesan cheese before serving.

A white sauce may be an alfredo sauce or a gorgonzola sauce. Both very rich!

Here's my version of alfredo sauce:

1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
3/4 cup parmesan
salt and garlic to taste

Melt the butter in the skillet, add flour, cook until bubbly. Add milk, mash any lumps and stir until it boils. Remove from heat, stir in parmesan. Add salt and garlic powder as needed. You can sub sour cream or cream cheese for part of the milk, or just add it also to get a creamier sauce.

You can also chop up some boneless skinless chicken breast and fry it in the butter, then add the flour and follow the rest of the recipe, if you want chicken alfredo.

Are you wanting a Bechemel Sauce or Alfredo sauce?

One uses whole milk and the other uses cream and one uses fontina cheese and the other uses parmesean cheese, so it depends on which you want to make in regards to the ingredients you get.

Each are very easy to make yourself or you could do a gravy for chicken and noodles using the drippings from the chicken if you cook it like I do in the slow cooker.

There are a number of sauces that are easy to make and delicious.

Recipe requests and posts belong in the Recipes forum. I will move your thread/post there.

My go-to sauce is melting cream cheese and butter with a sprinkling of granulated garlic.
I'm usually low-carb, so I use it on vegetables. Unless it's my splurge night with Dreamfield's

Sounds like Alfredo sauce. Very easy. Butter and cream and garlic and parmesan and parsley and pepper.
When my son was about 3 or 4, that's all he wanted to eat for supper for about a year. That and Caesar salad.
There are worse things.

I have used salad dressings as a topping for pasta. Find it to be a nice combo. I generally would use a Cesar type of dressing. I also have put a little mayo on it and have enjoyed it.
