And I mean "old"! When I was a student at the University of Mississippi, I remember seeing some recipes in a Ladies' Home Journal dating before World War I! I didn't try one, though.

I have many from the 30's thru the 90's and I like the old ones the best, from before recipes were ruined with convenience foods and packaged mixes.

I have some dessert recipes that list ingredients like "10¢ worth of sugar" and "2 scoops flour." "Colored butter" too.

Cake recipes often include warnings to walk quietly while the cake is baking so it won't fall.

I always like to read old recipes that I find in old mags, cookbooks (even junior league cookbooks, home economic cookbooks, and fundraiser ones), and old newspapers. The home economics cookbooks usually has really easy recipes like beginner's coffee cake recipes. I like the older dessert recipes (best from 1950s) because the desserts were the real deal with none of gluten free, fat free, low fat substitutes, nothing wrong with these but when I want dessert I won't the real deal with the real sugar, cream, flour, etc.

Yup, same here. And some are just fun to read. I just got a number of Kindle household management/recipe books. Some of these date from the 1800s!
