It may turn out to be the biggest mess I ever made, but I'm going to try it.

Melt 16oz candy corn in microwave for one minute then in 15sec increments until all is melted. Mix the 16oz creamy peanut butter with the melted candy corn. Pour onto cookie sheet covered with wax paper. Allow to cool then cut into squares. Melt candy chocolate and dip the squares into the melted chocolate. Place on waxed paper.

Halfway there! The melted candy corn and peanut butter is all mixed together, spread out on the cookie sheet and in the refrigerator. Tomorrow the finish. So far, not the mess I expected.

If this all works out great, what can be used in place of the hard to get this time of year candy corn?

thread title caught my attention. lol

the mere mention of candy corn about killed it for me

I've seen tons of recipes for homemade candy corn. If it works for OP, I would look up a recipe for the homemade candy corn and use that.

Turns out the mess comes from cutting the cold peanut butter and candy corn mixture into neat little squares. It tends to break easily, so the squares are randomly shaped pieces. I only did a few, so later will allow the mixture to get to room temp to see if it cuts better.

I found the candy corn at Dollar General after Halloween for half off.

OK, this will show how lazy I am.
I put out bowls of a mixture of candy corn, salted peanuts, and milk chocolate chips.

Take a handful, throw it in your mouth, and instant taste
